Lifestyle Club is presented by inspirational, stylish and fashionable people. We will take you on our adventure in life and in fashion!
Laura van Schravendijk
My name is
Laura, and I am incredibly lucky to call myself the new President of this
year's Lifestyle Club at HULT International Business School, here in London. I
have the Dutch nationality but have lived in Belgium all my life, which can
sometimes lead to confusion since I don't look neither Dutch or Belgian. Here
at HULT I study International business, which is the perfect addition to my
Master's in Engineering. This also leads to confusion, since apparently I'm not
the stereotypical Engineer either. Oh well, I guess I like the sight of raised
eyebrows! ( :-p )
I hope that
through this blog you, as a reader, will get to know what we, as a club, stand
for, and that we can entertain you with Street style photography, articles
about food, fashion and London, and a sneak peak behind the scenes of our
upcoming, exciting events!
My next must have purchase is:
Can I have
two? I'm on the hunt for the perfect winter coat, which needs to be stylish,
timeless, warm and practical (picky much?). Also a pair of comfortable black
high-heeled booties is on that list. I can be very patient when it comes to
finding a new addition to my wardrobe, as I won't stop until I've found exactly
what I want. I'm not one to settle easily, I guess ;-)
In terms of fashion icons, I admire...
Christine
Centenera, the senior fashion editor at Vogue Australia. I am absolutely
obsessed with her edgy, all-rounded style. She's not afraid to break the
fashion rules - if those even exist - and looks good doing it, and she will
always combine function with fashion. I love how she's able to combine
interesting textures and shapes, but will never go too crazy when it comes to
colours. If you'd give me a day inside her (probably walk-in) closet, I'd be
the happiest gal in the world!
What I love about living in London is...
The
availability of anything you wish, at your doorstep. London is the most
multicultural, global and exciting city I know. I love strolling through the
beautiful streets and observing all the fashionable and interesting people pass
by. I love discovering new parts of the city, as there's always a corner you
haven't seen yet. I love how easy it is to get around the city, which allows you
to make the most of your time, always. And I love the wide offer of cultural
and social events so you'll never get bored! But - without getting too corny -
I love the people in this city, as most of us are so likeminded since we all
chose to move here from different parts of the world. In the end, I love my new
multicultural family the most (ok so then it got corny. I do apologise.)

A style rule you never break:
There are many important rules that we should never break, but for me “Everything should fit” is definitely the rule that I would never break. Most people do not understand that it is not what you wear but how it fits that is truly important. If it is fitted, is half way to be stylish.

A style rule you never break:
NEVER stray too far from the color Black
Describe the lifestyle in London compared to other city / fashion capitals:
Compared to NYC, living in London is just as vibrant with culture and fashion. I've come to appreciate London's fashion environment more and more because there seems to be a different level of trend, quality, and access.
The first thing you look at in another person's style:
Fit, their wrist (for men) and shoes; just by looking at their shoes, you may be able to evaluate their taste, but by the fit or their clothing you can acquire someone's style.

Josephine Abs
Nationality: German
Program at Hult: MIM
Role in LC: Events
The first thing you look at in another person's style:
Shoes. The shoes a person wears show if she or he has a good style or not. This is especially true for men.
A style rule you never break:
Do not mix too many prints. If you know how to put different items together a print clash can be quite strong. Two prints might be fine but only if it is nicely combined. Otherwise it looks as if you are going to a costume party.

What can’t you live without:
Flowers, my friends and family and the sun
What do you love about living in London:
The fact that you can live in this city for years and keep discovering new wonderful nooks and crannies. There is also such a great mixture between urban and historical, which gives you a new scenery every corner you turn. Not to mention all the amazing shops! I especially love the many parks that offer some peace and quiet in the midst of a vibrant and restless city. But I think my favorite part is that you'll never find yourself in the city with nothing to do or no one to spend time with, it will always be ready to show you a good time.
